A group of 14 took the ferry across to Rothesay to participate in the races at the Bute Highland Games. With the rain falling throughout the entire day, the junior races on the grass track proved difficult, both underfoot and in keeping some body heat as the intervals between events got longer. In the under 13 categories, Scott Molloy, Megan Stewart, Rebecca Allan, Aidan McCaffrey and Lewis McCaffrey ran in the 100m and 600m events. In the under 15s. Scott Lawrie and Christopher Allan competed in the 100m and 800m.
The largest field was for the 10k race, where the Olympians were first team in the men’s race, with Robert Rogerson taking home the only prize of the day as first male veteran. Robert finished in 5th place (36.46mins) ahead of Alistair Allan (6th) and Gary Mitchell (8th) with Chris Craig finishing in 42 mins. In the women’s race, Annmarie McCaffrey was the club’s first finisher ahead of Ada Stewart and Gillian Molloy, with Gillian achieving a PB over this distance.
